Success Stories

Our first cohort is still ahead of us, so we do not have graduate stories yet. The journeys below are illustrative examples of how people with different backgrounds can use Virexa programmes. They are not real learners, and they are not promises of particular results. Real stories from Virexa graduates will appear here, with their permission, after Cohort 1.

Example learner journeys

Everyone starts somewhere different. These five journeys show how the programmes fit together, how much time each path takes, and what you will have built by the end.

From complete beginner to junior web developer

  • Starting point: no coding experience; curious about tech; working or studying full-time.
  • Path: Technology Foundations (8 weeks, about 8–10 hours a week), then Full-Stack Software Engineering (6 months, about 15–20 hours a week).
  • What you build: a personal portfolio site, a React app, a REST API with a database, and a team capstone deployed to the cloud.
  • Where it can lead: applying for junior full-stack, front-end or back-end developer roles, or freelance web projects.

From spreadsheets at work to data analyst

  • Starting point: already uses Excel in a job such as banking, sales, operations or accounting, and wants to go further with data.
  • Path: Data Analytics (4 months, about 10–15 hours a week).
  • What you build: an Excel sales dashboard, SQL analyses, a Python exploratory analysis and an interactive Power BI report.
  • Where it can lead: taking on analysis and reporting in your current organisation, or applying for data analyst and business intelligence roles.

From self-taught coder to back-end and cloud engineer

  • Starting point: has learned some programming from videos and tutorials, but lacks structure, feedback and production experience.
  • Path: Backend Engineering (4 months), then Cloud & DevOps Engineering (5 months).
  • What you build: documented APIs with authentication, a containerised service with CI/CD, and infrastructure as code on AWS.
  • Where it can lead: back-end developer, DevOps or cloud engineering roles at junior level.

From university student to front-end developer

  • Starting point: a student in any course who wants practical skills and a portfolio before graduating.
  • Path: Frontend Engineering (4 months, about 12–15 hours a week), alongside studies.
  • What you build: a landing page from a Figma design, a JavaScript app using a public API, and a React and TypeScript dashboard.
  • Where it can lead: internships, freelance website work, or front-end roles after graduation.

From customer support to QA engineer

  • Starting point: works with software every day, such as in customer support or operations, and is good at spotting when things go wrong.
  • Path: Software Testing & QA Automation (3 months, about 10–12 hours a week).
  • What you build: a test plan and bug reports for a real web app, a Postman API test collection, and a Playwright automation suite running in CI.
  • Where it can lead: software tester or QA engineer roles, and a strong base for moving into development later.
